Millefiori is the name of these famed Venetian bead made with rosetta or radiating cane cross section insets in a dark blue, almost violet-black nucleus. Called cha-cha-so in the Gulf of Guinea, these beads made great fortunes for the glassworks of Murano. They are still produced today in glassworks that jealously guard the secrets of how the insets are composed.
