In the late fifteenth century, Maria Barovier “invented” the rosetta bead, later called a chevron bead by Northern European merchants. Name indicates the chevron military rank device, which appears on the bead’s surface after grinding. The beads here are from the fifteenth–sixteenth centuries, with seven layers and transparent glass. Outer strand is exceptional for the size of its beads.
